Benin City, Edo State —

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has officially sworn in 21 newly appointed commissioners, marking a major step toward strengthening his administration and fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Edo.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Benin City, was attended by top government officials, political leaders, and traditional rulers from across the state.

Okpebholo’s Message to the New Commissioners

Governor Okpebholo charged the new commissioners to serve with integrity, dedication, and transparency, stressing that their appointment was based on merit and a proven track record of service.

“This administration is committed to the development of Edo State. We expect every commissioner to deliver results that will impact lives positively. There will be no room for excuses or complacency,” the governor stated.

He emphasized that the new team must work collectively to improve infrastructure, boost job creation, enhance education, and ensure security across the state.

The 21 commissioners, drawn from various local government areas, were assigned to key ministries including Education, Health, Works, Agriculture, Youth Development, Finance, and Information.

Although their full portfolios are expected to be announced later this week, sources at the Government House say the governor is committed to ensuring a balanced and inclusive cabinet that reflects the diversity of Edo State.

Reactions and Public Expectations

The ceremony was greeted with excitement across the state as citizens expressed optimism that the newly sworn-in officials will bring fresh energy into the administration.

Civil society groups and political commentators have urged the commissioners to focus on grassroots development and deliver tangible results within their ministries.

“Edo people are watching closely. This is a new opportunity to prove that governance can work for everyone,” said one analyst.

Governor Okpebholo, who assumed office earlier this year, has promised to run a people-centered administration focused on development, transparency, and accountability.
The new commissioners are expected to complement his efforts to reposition Edo State for growth and attract both local and international investments.

The swearing-in of the 21 commissioners signals a renewed drive by the Okpebholo administration to deliver on its promises and ensure inclusive governance across Edo State. Residents and observers alike now await the official portfolio announcements and policy rollout.
